1. Character Creation and Classes
At the start of Lost Ark, you’ll choose a class for your character. The game features five main archetypes, each with advanced subclasses:
- Warrior: Berserker, Paladin, Gunlancer
- Mage: Bard, Sorceress
- Martial Artist: Striker, Wardancer, Scrapper, Soulfist
- Gunner: Gunslinger, Artillerist, Deadeye, Sharpshooter
- Assassin: Shadowhunter, Deathblade
Each class has unique skills, abilities, and playstyles, allowing for diversity in how you approach combat and exploration.
2. Leveling to 50
Leveling up to 50 is the first big goal in Lost Ark. The main storyline quests will guide you through different zones, providing experience, gear, and resources.
Main Story Quests
- Follow the main story quests as they offer the best experience gain and unlock key features of the game. These quests are marked with orange icons.
- Along the way, you'll encounter purple quests (side quests), blue quests (dungeons), and yellow quests (secondary objectives). Focus on the orange quests first to progress quickly.
Zones and Combat
- Explore zones like Rethramis, Yudia, West Luterra, and more, as the story takes you through different continents.
- Combat in Lost Ark is action-oriented. Use a combination of basic attacks, skills, and dodge mechanics. Skill Points are earned as you level and can be used to upgrade abilities in the Skill Tree.
- Tri-pod system: Each skill has three levels of customization (tripods), allowing you to modify its effects. Experiment with different tripod combinations to tailor your skills to your playstyle.
Dungeons and Raids
- As you progress, you will encounter dungeons that require solo or group play. These provide higher-tier loot and essential quest progression.
- Dungeons come in two difficulties: Normal and Hard. Playing on Hard mode yields better rewards but is more challenging.
Mounts and Travel
- Early on, you’ll obtain your first mount, which helps in traveling across large zones.
- Triports are teleportation nodes found in each area. Unlock and use these to travel quickly between towns and regions.
3. Reaching Level 50 and the Endgame
Once you hit level 50, the real game begins. At this point, you’ll be introduced to the more advanced systems of Lost Ark, such as gear upgrades, more difficult dungeons, and additional PvE and PvP content.
Continents and Islands
- Continue to explore the continents and islands that appear across the world map.
- Sailing: You’ll unlock a ship that allows you to sail between islands and explore new areas, complete quests, and gather materials.
Endgame Dungeons and Raids
- Abyss Dungeons and Guardian Raids are key endgame activities. These group-based PvE challenges provide high-level gear and crafting materials.
- Guardian Raids: Large-scale boss fights where players must defeat a powerful Guardian within a time limit. You'll need strategy and teamwork.
- Abyss Dungeons: These are much harder than regular dungeons and require coordination. You’ll need to complete these for powerful gear.
4. Gear Progression
After hitting 50, gear progression becomes the primary focus.
Chaos Dungeons
- After completing the story, you'll unlock Chaos Dungeons, an important endgame activity that gives gear, materials, and other rewards.
- Run these dungeons daily for high-level gear. The gear will have an item level, which is essential for progressing further in the game.
Upgrading Gear
- The core of Lost Ark's endgame is upgrading your gear. Use materials obtained from dungeons, raids, and other activities to enhance your weapons and armor.
- Each gear upgrade increases your item level, allowing you to tackle harder content like Abyss Dungeons and Guardian Raids.
5. PvP System
Once you’ve reached level 50, you’ll unlock various PvP modes.
- Arena PvP: A structured environment where you can fight other players in 3v3 matches.
- Open-world PvP: Certain zones and activities feature PvP, where players can battle for control of objectives or rare resources.
- Ranked PvP: As you advance, ranked PvP becomes available, allowing players to compete for higher rankings and rewards.
PvP is balanced, meaning gear doesn’t give an overwhelming advantage. Success in PvP is based on your skill and mastery of your class.
6. Life Skills and Crafting
Outside of combat, Lost Ark features a robust crafting and gathering system.
Life Skills
- Gathering: Chop wood, mine ore, fish, and more.
- Crafting: Use gathered materials to craft potions, bombs, or equipment at towns and outposts.
- Housing: Unlock your own stronghold, where you can upgrade and personalize your base, craft items, and send out NPCs on missions.
7. Sailing and Exploration
Sailing is a key part of the endgame. Once you unlock your ship, you’ll be able to sail to various islands and take part in naval content.
- Island Quests: Each island has its own questlines, activities, and rewards. Some islands offer daily quests, while others have rare materials.
- Naval Combat: Defend your ship from pirates and enemies while sailing.
8. Endgame Progression
- Continue increasing your gear score by farming high-tier content, upgrading equipment, and completing weekly or daily events.
- Explore hidden islands, discover secret dungeons, and participate in world bosses.
- Take part in the Guild System, where players can join guilds, contribute to guild projects, and take part in guild wars.
