Choose your spawn location carefully: If you're new, select an easier spawn region (e.g., South Zone 1) to avoid aggressive creatures.
Customize your character’s stats for survival: Focus on Health, Stamina, and Weight to begin with.
b. Basic Survival
Collect resources: Punch trees for wood and thatch, pick up rocks from the ground, and gather fiber from bushes.
Craft basic tools:
Stone Pickaxe: For gathering stone, flint, thatch, and meat.
Stone Hatchet: For gathering wood, stone, and hide.
Torch: For light and warmth during the night.
Craft your first weapon: Use a Spear or Bow to defend yourself and hunt for food.
2. Early Game (Day 1-3)
a. Shelter & Safety
Build a small Thatch House as soon as possible. It will give you protection from the elements and some animals.
Gather thatch, wood, and fiber to craft thatch walls, foundations, and a door.
Campfire: Craft a campfire for cooking meat (from Dodos, Dilophosaurs, or other small creatures) and staying warm at night.
b. Leveling Up
Focus on leveling up to unlock more crafting recipes (Engrams). Prioritize:
Storage Box (to store your items),
Sleeping Bag (acts as a one-time respawn point),
Mortar and Pestle (for making narcotics),
Slingshot (for knocking out dinos).
Hunt small animals like Dodos and Dilophosaurs for meat and hide. Hide will be important for crafting armor and certain tools.
3. Taming Your First Dinosaur
a. Passive & Knockout Taming
Passive taming: Some herbivores (e.g., Iguanodon, Phiomia) can be tamed by feeding them from your inventory without attacking them.
Knockout taming: Use a Slingshot or Tranquilizer Arrows to knock out a dino (e.g., a Triceratops). Once unconscious, feed them their preferred food (berries for herbivores, meat for carnivores) and keep them unconscious with Narcoberries or Narcotics.
b. Early Useful Dinos
Dodo: Easy tame for practice and egg farming.
Trike (Triceratops): Great for gathering berries and defending you.
Raptor: Fast, agile, and useful for hunting and exploration.
4. Building and Expanding
a. Upgrade Your Base
Upgrade to Wood Structures to make your base stronger against wild dinosaurs.
Build a Storage Room, Smithy, and Forge to craft metal tools and weapons.
Start creating defensive walls or spikes around your base to protect against hostile dinos.
b. Farming & Cooking
Unlock Crop Plots and start farming Narcoberries, Mejoberries, and other crops. Farming helps you with taming and creating narcotics.
Learn to cook recipes in a Cooking Pot to provide buffs and better nourishment.
5. Exploration and Progression
a. Explore Safely
As you level up, unlock the Pteranodon Saddle so you can tame a flying dino for faster exploration. Flying lets you scout for better resources and avoid dangerous predators.
b. Metal Tools and Armor
Find metal nodes in rocky areas (like mountains) and use a Pickaxe to gather metal ore.
Craft a Smithy and a Forge to smelt metal ore into metal ingots, which can be used to craft advanced tools and weapons.
Prioritize crafting Metal Tools (Pick, Hatchet), Crossbows, and Flak Armor for protection.
c. Tribes & Multiplayer
If you’re playing multiplayer, consider joining a tribe. This will allow you to share resources, tame dinos together, and pool experience.
6. Mid to Late Game
a. Taming Stronger Dinos
Focus on taming utility and combat dinosaurs, such as:
Argentavis: A larger flying dino that can carry items and smaller creatures.
T-Rex: A powerful carnivore for battles and defense.
Ankylosaurus: Great for gathering metal and flint.
Doedicurus: Excellent for gathering stone.
b. Caves and Artifacts
Begin exploring caves to gather Artifacts. These are crucial for summoning bosses later in the game.
Make sure to bring strong dinos, weapons, and plenty of supplies (food, water, armor).
c. Tek Tier
Eventually, you’ll unlock Tek Tier technology, which includes advanced items like Tek Armor, Tek Rifle, and Tek Saddles. These require element, which can be obtained from defeating bosses.
7. Boss Fights and Endgame
a. Summon Bosses
Once you’ve gathered enough Artifacts and prepared strong dinos, you can summon and fight bosses, such as:
Broodmother Lysrix (spider-like boss)
Megalopithecus (ape-like boss)
Dragon (flying fire-breathing creature)
b. Ascension
Defeating bosses gives you access to Ascension, allowing you to progress further into the story of ARK and gain access to higher-level content.
